PARIMA Shanghai 2017 Conference Highlights

PARIMA hosted it’s second 2017 regional conference in Shanghai on 21st June There were more than 180 delegates attending the conference at Intercontinental Pudong, most of them were corporate risk managers based in China Although PARIMA has previously held smaller scale workshops and events in Shanghai and Beijing, this was the first time we have hosted such a big event with an exhibition area for the insurance and risk market to interact in The conference was conducted bilingually in both Mandarin and English

Given the prevalence of China’s ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative, the conference started with a short presentation by Owen Belman, North Asia CEO of Aon-COFCO followed by Jingwei Jia, China CEO and Managing Director of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions They shared potential investment opportunities and considerations the ‘One Belt One Road’ will bring to organisations over the next few years This was then followed by an insightful panel discussion moderated by Clare Wu, CEO of Aon-COFCO together with Sharon Shi, Senior Manager Insurance & Risk of BMW-Brilliance Automotive
Throughout the day, Risk Managers .coming from organisations such as Disney, Mary Kay, Lenovo, Toyota, INPEX, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Sinochem, IKEA, Aboitiz, Porsche, Nestle, Ford, Thyssenkrupp, Yum, Michelin, Amazon attended various educational breakout sessions These sessions covered topics that included; China Cyber Regulation, Captives, Supply Chain Risks, Project Risks related to international Expansion, Product recall and safety management in construction projects

Other keynote speeches included Ernst & Young sharing on the Robotic Process Automation Revolution in China, Zurich’s Tianjin experience as well as a personal sharing by security professional, Gene Yu in a kidnap and ransom case

PARIMA also announced at the conference the launch of Willis Towers Watson-PARIMA Risk Lab session in Shanghai on 3rd August 2017
PARIMA will be holding its next conference in Singapore on 14th November 2017 PARIMA partners with 28 .companies from the insurance, broking and consulting sectors It aims to strengthen and enhance the culture of risk management by creating opportunities for education and dialogue within the .community and spreading best practices and knowledge
