Patrick started his career in the Plantation industry in 1986. He left the plantations to join a Risk Management firm in 1993 and has worked with various industries in Malaysia on risk and safety mitigation programs. He has over 20 years of experience in safety management and 17 years in risk management that includes Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management.

Having spent the last 16 years with Astro, he is the Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management, Astro Overseas Limited (AOL) which oversees Astro’s investments globally. His scope includes reviewing risks related to strategy planning, financial management, regulatory & compliance, technology and operational initiatives at both AOL and investee company levels. This scope also includes Business Continuity Management and events relating to Crisis & Emergency management. He is ultimately responsible for ensuring the establishment of effective risk management practices which are consistently applied across the AOL Group; and submission of risk and compliance reports to the Board and Audit Committee of AOL.

His in-depth knowledge of the business that is related to Multi-channel Television, Satellite & Radio operations, IPTV, Production, Animation, Multimedia Interactive Technologies, Call Centre Operations, Digital & Mobile Services and Publications has provided a platform to align business synergies across the AOL Group of companies. Part of his portfolio also includes the facilitation of change management programs that are related to mitigation strategies and institutionalizing such practices across investee companies. On an ad-hoc basis, he provides risk and safety management advice to the AOL’s Associate companies which are involved in the Satellite operations, Electricity Generation, Telecommunication, Call Centre operations, Oil & Gas, etc.

Patrick also represent Malaysia as a Board member of Pan-Asia Risk & Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) which has been set up to promote professionalism with a high & efficient standard of competence for risk management practices in Asia.
