PARIMA and AON are pleased to invite you to this interactive roundtable session, a discussion of top risks in today's volatile world.


The session will be based on the Aon 2017 Global Risk Management survey, and is an exciting opportunity to learn about what companies determine as their top risks today and how they are dealing with these risks.

We will be conducting a presentation as well as a group session where participants will be able to share their views of their current risks, concerns and opportunities.

10.30 a.m. – 11.00 a.m. : Introduction to the COSO Framework

The COSO framework is designed to help organisations design and implement internal control in light of many changes in business and operating environments since the issuance of the original Framework, broaden the application of internal control in addressing operations and reporting objectives, and clarify the requirements for determining what constitutes effective internal control.

11.15 a.m. – 11.15 a.m. : Introducing the Case Study

A case study has been developed based on a Malaysian multinational company and participants will need to read through and familiarise themselves with the scenario.

11.15 a.m. – 11.30 p.m. : Morning Tea Break 

11.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. : Breakout Group Discussion 

The group will be split into groups and using the COSO framework and based on the case study, the participants will debate and develop a profile of the top 5 risks that will encompass:

  • Identifying the risks
  • Possible Causes to each risk
  • Potential Impacts for each risk
  • Likely Controls available to manage risks
  • Likelihood Ranking
  • Consequence Ranking
  • Overall Risk Ranking

12.30 p.m. – 13.30p.m. : Lunch Break

13.30 p.m. – 14.45 p.m. : Top Risks Identified in the Case Study

Each group will be invited to present the top risk identified during the breakout group discussion.

13.30 p.m. – 14.45 p.m. : Top Risks Identified in the Case Study

Each group will be invited to present the top risk identified during the breakout group discussion.

14.45 p.m. – 15.30 p.m. : Actions to the Key Risks Identified

Each group takes a risk and proposes actions. Assess expected cost benefit i.e. reduction in likelihood and consequence versus operational / capex costs.

15.30 p.m. – 15.45 p.m. :Afternoon Tea Break

15.45 p.m. – 16.45 p.m. : Present Actions to the Key Risks Identified

Each group will be invited to present the actions to the risk identified.

16.45 p.m. – 17.15 p.m. : Insurable vs. Non Insurable Risks

Based on the case study, we look at the main insurable and non-insurable risks that have been identified.
