Mysahra Shawkat

Mysahra is currently overseeing the professional indemnity and risk management programme for the Malaysian Bar. Malaysian Bar is a statutory body incorporated pursuant to section 42 of the Legal Profession Act 1976. The proper management of the affairs of the Malaysian Bar and the proper performance of its functions are carried out by the Bar Council.

She has been with the Bar Council Secretariat since 2011 and is responsible to monitor claims and coordinate preventive measures for the Bar’s mandatory professional indemnity scheme. Her latest task is to ensure MyBar ELEVATE, the Malaysian Bar’s Risk Management Campaign, a programme to raise the standards and quality of law firm services in Peninsular Malaysia is recognized.

She came into the workforce some 20 years ago and had worked with companies dealing with construction and maintenance, international trade and services, and publications. Her passion and drive for risk management is fuelled by having work with people and organisations that are enthusiastic about managing crisis and risks.

She has been a member of PARIMA since 2013. She is also a member of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (“MII”) and is an Executive Committee Member in the Malaysian Association of Risk and Insurance Management (“MARIM”).

Mysahra is currently in the final semester completing her research paper for MSc in Risk Management.
