We live in a ‘risk generation’. Faced with multiple threats in what has been dubbed as a polycrisis, public and private organisations are increasingly emphasising the importance of taking action ahead of risks. While we explore both the origins of new risks and the role of today’s professionals, we are also ushering the entrance of the Gen Z into the workforce, bringing with them new ideas and perspectives. With this generation of existing and emerging risks, conditions are due for the rise of a risk aware, risk mature and risk-ready generation of risk managers.
In 2025, the theme of ‘The Risk Generation’ will take us through the home grounds of those who live, work, and innovate in an age marked by unprecedented threats and opportunities.

Enabling Better Decisions Through AI-Driven Insights
Modern businesses rely on data as a core strategic asset. Vast data repositories act as knowledge supply chains, and AI-powered analytics breathe life into them by uncovering patterns beyond traditional analysis. These systems enable faster, more accurate decision-making by predicting both opportunities and potential risks.
Importance for Indian Corporates:
India’s economic growth, driven by a diverse industrial landscape and accelerated digital adoption post-pandemic, generates massive data volumes. This presents both opportunities and challenges. AI tools enable Indian businesses to improve decision-making, accelerate responses, and manage structural changes in a rapidly evolving market.

Tomorrow’s Risks – When Insurance Alone Isn’t Enough
In India’s rapidly evolving business environment, relying solely on insurance is no longer sufficient to manage the full spectrum of risks companies face. Along with the country’s manufacturing development comes an evolving nature of risk, becoming more complex, interconnected, and unpredictable with increased operational complexity.
External factors like severe weather events can also damage infrastructure, disrupt operations, and increase costs. These climate-related risks are not only harder to predict but also more difficult to insure against, especially as insurers reassess their exposure and raise premiums or withdraw coverage in high-risk areas.
Moreover, the long-term effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels and resource scarcity, pose strategic threats that insurance alone cannot address.
At the same time, the value of businesses is increasingly tied to intangible assets like intellectual property, data, and brand reputation. These assets are difficult to insure and even harder to recover once compromised. A loss of customer trust or reputational damage can have enduring consequences that no insurance payout can fully repair.
Stakeholders including customers, investors, and regulators, now expect businesses to demonstrate resilience and responsibility. One needs to take a comprehensive and holistic approach to risk management today, to address India’s risks tomorrow.

Renewable Energy vs. Climate Change: A Two-Way Risk Equation
The discussion on climate change and renewable energy is crucial for corporate risk managers as it impacts the sustainability and resilience of operations. Increasing extreme weather events and resource volatility pose financial, operational, and reputational risks.
Understanding the impact of large-scale renewable energy projects on local climates helps navigate regulatory risks and liabilities. Insurance plays a key role in mitigating risks like weather disruptions and project delays, ensuring asset longevity and business continuity. By addressing both risks to and from renewable energy, managers can develop holistic strategies for long-term sustainability and resilience.
