To all those travelling to and from Hong Kong, please exercise due diligence in response to alerts on possible protests & transport disruption and kindly take note of the following advice:
- Those flying via Hong Kong airport should reconfirm flight status with the relevant airlines due to the potential for intermittent disruption
- Where possible, choose hotels closer to your work location to minimise travel time and exposure to violence; avoid choosing hotels near police stations and key government buildings
- Consult the MTR website for up-to-date information on metro services Consult the Hong Kong Transport Department website for updates on traffic information Be prepared to make alternative transport arrangements in the event of short-notice disruption
- Proactively adopt precautions: avoid wearing black or white T-shirts due to their associations with protesters; be respectful when interacting with security force personnel, follow all official directives and avoid provocative actions
- Maintain close communications with local contacts to reconfirm the status of routes and transport infrastructure before setting out
- Carry relevant travel documents, such as your passport, flight bookings and hotel bookings/keycard, to ease your passage through checkpoints
