The Risk Generation

We live in a ‘risk generation’. Faced with multiple threats in what has been dubbed as a polycrisis, public and private organisations are increasingly emphasising the importance of taking action ahead of risks. While we explore both the origins of new risks and the role of today’s professionals, we are also ushering the entrance of the Gen Z into the workforce, bringing with them new ideas and perspectives. With this generation of existing and emerging risks, conditions are due for the rise of a risk aware, risk mature and risk-ready generation of risk managers.

In 2025, the theme of ‘The Risk Generation’ will take us through the home grounds of those who live, work, and innovate in an age marked by unprecedented threats and opportunities.

The Role of Risk Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents one of the most transformational forces likely to unlock a wave of economic value creation. However, as with the rapid adoption of any new and disruptive technology, the opportunity of AI will also transform the enterprise risk landscape for all industries. As Hong Kong continues to make progress in AI governance, it is critical risk leaders across the country understand the liabilities of AI use cases in their digital value chain, including insurance implications. This interactive masterclass will explore these in practical terms.

Rethinking Disaster Risk: Innovations and Insights in Parametric Insurance
Disaster risks are escalating globally, demanding faster, more transparent financial protection. This session explores how parametric insurance is transforming resilience by paying out based on objective triggers (e.g., typhoon class, rainfall levels, earthquake magnitude) rather than traditional loss assessments.

We’ll demystify the core mechanics of parametric solutions—simplicity, speed, and scalability—and showcase real-world examples from the APAC region and also overseas that could be applicable locally.

Join us to gain actionable insights into how parametric insurance redefines risk management, enhances financial resilience, and creates a more responsive safety net for an era of climate uncertainty.

Navigating the risk manager’s journey from underwriting to claims and beyond
This interactive masterclass is designed to empower risk managers with strategic insights to better understand and influence each stage of the insurance process. We will explore how to effectively navigate underwriting, risk consulting, claims, and even prepare for business expansion.

Attendees will learn how to speak the language of underwriters, identify key negotiation levers, and develop a deeper understanding of the underwriting mindset to secure better terms. They will then step into the shoes of a risk engineer to understand how they support underwriters and risk managers in improving the risk quality of assets. We will also examine the critical first 48 hours of a claim incident, providing practical guidance for managing claims scenarios efficiently. Additionally, the session will cover multinational solutions, addressing how to protect evolving businesses and what risk managers should consider to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Join us to enhance your negotiation skills, deepen your understanding of the insurance journey, and learn how to position yourself for successful outcomes.

PARIMA Next-Gen Risk Takers & Results
Next-Gen Risk Takers, a speaking challenge, is a platform for emerging Risk Professionals to share their risk-related learnings and stories to a live audience. Prior to this, candidates submitted their applications in the form of an essay. While many entries had come in, only a selected few were chosen by PARIMA’s Executive Committee. These finalists will be sharing their risk stories to the audience on the Masterclass Day. The winner(s) of the challenge will be awarded with a subsidised trip and an opportunity to speak at the flagship PARIMA Conference in Singapore, scheduled for 29-30 October 2025.
