The Risk Generation

We live in a ‘risk generation’. Faced with multiple threats in what has been dubbed as a polycrisis, public and private organisations are increasingly emphasising the importance of taking action ahead of risks. While we explore both the origins of new risks and the role of today’s professionals, we are also ushering the entrance of the Gen Z into the workforce, bringing with them new ideas and perspectives. With this generation of existing and emerging risks, conditions are due for the rise of a risk aware, risk mature and risk-ready generation of risk managers.

In 2025, the theme of ‘The Risk Generation’ will take us through the home grounds of those who live, work, and innovate in an age marked by unprecedented threats and opportunities.

The Role of Risk Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents one of the most transformational forces likely to unlock a wave of economic value creation. However, as with the rapid adoption of any new and disruptive technology, the opportunity of AI will also transform the enterprise risk landscape for all industries. As Malaysia continues to make progress in AI governance, it is critical risk leaders across the country understand the liabilities of AI use cases in their digital value chain, including insurance implications. This interactive masterclass will explore these in practical terms.

Tomorrow’s Climate Risks – When Insurance Alone isn’t Enough
With climate change fuelling more severe weather events, certain exposures are becoming ‘uninsurable’. Especially in Asia with growing severities like flood, risk management becomes critical to businesses. As global temperatures rise and urbanisation accelerates, the risk to businesses and infrastructure grows. Explore with us from a science-backed perspective and examine tangible financial impacts that are hindering businesses.

Insurance isn’t enough to fully protect your business from climate risks. A holistic risk management plan—which includes incorporating climate resilience into your building designs, operations and long-term strategy planning—will help ensure your business is better prepared. Being able to make informed decisions on where to locate your businesses, knowing how to physically protect your assets and having good business continuity plans in place can make a major difference.

Assessing Physical Climate Risk: A Practical Guide for Risk Managers
The impacts of climate change are increasingly felt – more frequent and severe weather events expose companies to physical vulnerabilities, posing real threat to business operation and long-term resilience around the world. In Malaysia, the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) has established the baseline sustainability disclosure standards for companies, adopting a phased implementation of climate risk reporting starting from 2025.

With these shifts, accurate climate risk assessment is more crucial than ever. But where should risk managers start? What are the opportunities for risk managers to lead their organisations in tactical and strategic decisions about climate risks?

In this masterclass, we’ll break down physical climate risk assessment – covering the fundamental concepts, data, methodologies, best practices and real-world applications – to help companies navigate this evolving landscape.

PARIMA Next-Gen Risk Takers & Results
Next-Gen Risk Takers, a speaking challenge, is a platform for emerging Risk Professionals to share their risk-related learnings and stories to a live audience. Prior to this, candidates submitted their applications in the form of an essay. While many entries had come in, only a selected few were chosen by PARIMA’s Executive Committee. These finalists will be sharing their risk stories to the audience on the Masterclass Day. The winner(s) of the challenge will be awarded with a subsidised trip and an opportunity to speak at the flagship PARIMA Conference in Singapore, scheduled for 29-30 October 2025.
