The Risk Generation

We live in a ‘risk generation’. Faced with multiple threats in what has been dubbed as a polycrisis, public and private organisations are increasingly emphasising the importance of taking action ahead of risks. While we explore both the origins of new risks and the role of today’s professionals, we are also ushering the entrance of the Gen Z into the workforce, bringing with them new ideas and perspectives. With this generation of existing and emerging risks, conditions are due for the rise of a risk aware, risk mature and risk-ready generation of risk managers.

In 2025, the theme of ‘The Risk Generation’ will take us through the home grounds of those who live, work, and innovate in an age marked by unprecedented threats and opportunities.

The Role of Risk Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents one of the most transformational forces likely to unlock a wave of economic value creation. However, as with the rapid adoption of any new and disruptive technology, the opportunity of AI will also transform the enterprise risk landscape for all industries. As Malaysia continues to make progress in AI governance, it is critical risk leaders across the country understand the liabilities of AI use cases in their digital value chain, including insurance implications. This interactive masterclass will explore these in practical terms.

Navigating Turbulent Waters: Proactive Flood Risk Management for Resilient Businesses
Climate change is driving more frequent and more severe weather events around the globe, but of all the perils that brings, one stands above the rest: flood. It does more damage than any other. It’s the most frequent hazard, and it’s the one that is increasing the sharpest in a warming climate. Climate change, globalisation and urbanisation are driving factors behind flood events and their consequences. The frequency and severity of floods are notably felt in their increases in Asia.

As the impacts of climate change become more extreme and widespread, insurance alone won’t be enough to safeguard the business from the impacts of flooding. Wholistic risk mitigation plays a key role in resilience, and it doesn’t have to be too complex. Integrating climate adaptation and resilience into the design of buildings, from waterproofing to relocating essential equipment, to installing wind-resistant roofing, to scrapping a risky location can make a huge difference. Backed by decades of engineering & science, we will be sharing our expertise on proven and tested methods to build long-term resilience against flood risks.

Assessing Physical Climate Risk: A Practical Guide for Risk Managers
The impacts of climate change are increasingly felt – more frequent and severe weather events expose companies to physical vulnerabilities, posing real threat to business operation and long-term resilience around the world. In Malaysia, the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) has established the baseline sustainability disclosure standards for companies, adopting a phased implementation of climate risk reporting starting from 2025.

With these shifts, accurate climate risk assessment is more crucial than ever. But where should risk managers start? What are the opportunities for risk managers to lead their organisations in tactical and strategic decisions about climate risks?

In this masterclass, we’ll break down physical climate risk assessment – covering the fundamental concepts, data, methodologies, best practices and real-world applications – to help companies navigate this evolving landscape.
