14 August 2026 –– PARIMA successfully concluded its Next-Gen Risk Takers Challenge – Penang Edition, held on 7 August 2026, a dynamic speaking competition designed to empower emerging risk professionals by providing them with a platform to share their insights, experiences, and perspectives with a live audience.
The Next-Gen Risk Takers Challenge is proudly supported by QBE Asia as the Title Sponsor, reflecting a shared commitment to developing the next generation of risk professionals and encouraging new perspectives within the industry.
The challenge attracted strong interest from the local risk community, with applications received from professionals across various industries. Following a competitive selection process, three finalists were selected to compete in the finals.
The three finalists who took centre stage were:
- Anina D. Seachon, Environmental and Social Risk Officer at Bank of the Philippine Islands
- Mark Jonathan Samuel Inbaraj, Manager in Risk Intelligence at Tenaga Nasional Berhad
- Uthman bin Mohd Haneef, Management Executive, Risk & Resilience at PLUS MALAYSIA BERHAD
Following deliberation by the judging panel, Uthman was ultimately selected as the winner of the Next-Gen Risk Takers Challenge – Penang Edition.

“I think it is important that those in senior positions recognise that young professionals are also capable of driving change in the field of risk management. I hope that by taking part in this challenge, I am able to send that message to others. Regardless of whether I won, I was very happy to have the opportunity to share my ideas and gain insights from participants across different organisations and backgrounds. That was my biggest takeaway from the competition,” said Uthman.
Following the success of the 2026 editions, PARIMA announced that the Next-Gen Risk Takers Challenge will conclude its regional journey in Beijing, China, on 17 September 2026. Winners will receive a subsidised trip and the opportunity to take part in the inaugural Grand Final at the PARIMA Singapore Conference from 14 to 15 October 2026. The winner of the Grand Final will be crowned the Ultimate Next-Gen Risk Taker.
The 2026 Ultimate Next-Gen Risk Taker will be offered the opportunity to participate in the 2027 edition of EQUIP, QBE’s flagship broker development programme or an equivalent leadership development programme, subject to availability.
