13 March 2025 – PARIMA kicked off its 2025 Masterclass Series with a successful event in Bangkok, Thailand on 13 March 2025 located at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel.
The Masterclass featured five insightful sessions, including an exclusive session hosted by PARIMA’s board members specifically for PARIMA members, while the remaining four were led by esteemed partners — Aon, FM, Marsh, and Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Aon’s session, “The Role of Risk Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” explored how AI is reshaping the risk landscape. The discussion emphasised the growing need for risk leaders to understand their organisation’s liability and exposure profile in an era of rapid technological advancement.
“With the rapid adoption of any new and disruptive technology, the opportunity of AI will also transform the enterprise risk landscape for all industries. Hence, proactive risk management is essential for responsible AI adoption. Aon was delighted to discuss the liabilities and insurance implications of AI use cases across the digital value chain and practical strategies for navigating this transformative era with risk leaders,” said Sara Kobes, Director of Aon Cyber Solutions.
Concurrently, FM hosted the session “The Hidden Dangers of Lithium-Ion Batteries: Safeguarding Against Emerging Risks” in a separate ballroom. This session explored the risks associated with lithium-ion batteries and provided practical strategies to enhance property safety across various industries.
“Lithium-ion batteries are lubricators and have various commercial applications. However, they also come with certain risks. While some high-profile accidents have made headlines, the good news is that these risks can be managed through an engineering approach, such as ensuring proper separation between battery compartments,” said Suren Lim Sinnadurai, Learning Experience Facilitator of FM.
Following this, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions conducted the session “A Proven Alternative: Structured Solutions for Your Complex and Emerging Risks.” This session delved into customised approaches and innovative strategies to effectively manage both current and emerging threats.
“Organisations today face increasingly diverse and complex risks, to which traditional insurance may not always offer the necessary flexibility or coverage. These challenges call for innovative solutions where Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) comes in. We were pleased to have the opportunity to explore ART options in depth, including Partially Funded Insurance (Virtual Captives) and Parametric Insurance, and we saw strong interest from risk experts in these alternatives,” said Tanvee Mehta, Senior Structurer of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Lastly, in another ballroom, Marsh hosted the session “Unleash the Power of Climate Resilience.” This session focused on practical approaches to enhance decision-making skills for addressing climate change challenges.
“Realising climate resilience in Asia requires navigating the unique challenges and opportunities that arise, often involving trade-offs between costs and return on investment. Delaying action on climate adaptation only amplifies the devastating impacts of climate change. While the returns on investments may not be immediate, it is imperative to begin taking action to mitigate the escalating consequences. Marsh Asia is committed to support organisations as they navigate the approach to climate resilience, ensuring that we address both current and future challenges effectively,” said by Graeme Riddell, Climate & Sustainability Advisory Leader and Asia Climate Centre of Excellence Co-Leader of Marsh Asia.
